Wine Tasting: Cune Rioja 2014 Crianza

I haven’t been this excited to write a wine tasting post all semester! Not that I haven’t enjoyed writing all my other posts, but this one just has a fun back story to it.

For Thanksgiving break this year, my family and I went to visit my aunt and uncle who live in New York with their two young sons, Sebastian and Remy. My aunt Jennifer met her husband during her time living in Madrid, Spain. His name is Alberto and he is a native of Spain. They only moved back to America within the past 3 or so years and chose to live in New York because that is where my aunt lived prior to living in Spain.

My two older brothers, my older sister, my sister-in-law, my mom, my aunt and uncle and I all sat around the table on Wednesday night catching up over a glass of wine. My Spanish uncle Alberto poured me a glass of this Spanish wine, which he said was one of his favorites.

Cune Rioja is a wine I have never heard of and probably would never have picked out myself. It is a red wine, medium-bodied and it has a nice-looking label. I say I probably would never have picked it myself because I tend to go for the bottles I have seen or heard of before. I immediately loved the taste of this wine! Upon smelling it I got fruity aromas, but it didn’t smell like it was going to be super sweet. It was my definition of the perfectly balanced wine…not to sweet and not to dry! At only $10, it is 100% in my price range and I will be buying it for myself. Cune is the name of the winery and the vintage is 2014. The bottle is from the region of Rioja in Spain.IMG_6735.JPG

Again, absolutely loved this bottle of Spanish red wine! I highly recommend it to anyone who is not sure about reds!

Until next wine time!
